We built a direction in the model's residual stream for each neurotransmitter receptor, from 21 drugs' binding affinities and descriptions of their effects, then injected those directions while the model described its experience. An unsteered copy of the same model scored every reply. Every number here opens onto the replies behind it. Hypotheses were written down before each run; verdicts are from those rules.
A direction built from real DMT trip reports, added to a 72-billion-parameter model's activations. On open prompts that never mention company, it met someone in 12 of 16 replies at 7×, against 0 of 16 unsteered and 1 of 32 with a random direction of the same strength (exp60; judged by the unsteered model). Each quote is the start of one reply, unedited.
